About Southend Airport

Southend Airport started operating commercial flights way back in 1935, and in the 1960s was one of the UK’s busiest airports. The airport is undergoing a revival, with low-cost carrier EasyJet offering flights from Southend Airport in 2012.

Southend Airport is owned by the Stobart Group, and plans to make Southend Airport big business are well in hand. The new control tower is in place, and the new railway station “Southend Airport” has been completed, and the new passenger terminal is now open. The Long-stay carpark and a hotel are expected to be ready in 2012. Easyjet started flights from Southend in early 2012. The runway extension is due to be completed in 2012, allowing larger aircraft to take off and land safely.

Trains to Southend Airport

Southend Airport now has its own rail station. “Southend Airport” stations between Rochford and Prittlewell on the London Liverpool Street to Southend line. The line is operated by National Express East Anglia .

Easyjet, flying from Southend

Easyjet started flying from Southend Airport in April 2012. Initial destinations include Portugal (Faro Airport), Barcelona and Ibiza.

Easyjet expect to operate 70 flights a week from Southend to various European destinations.

Parking at London Southend Airport
